We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Business Rates and Grants Officer to support a busy local authority Revenues service. The successful candidate will take responsibility for complex Business Rates cases, statutory relief reviews, billing and recovery processes, while providing technical guidance and supporting the day-to-day management of the team.The Role Manage complex Business Rates and Business Improvement District (BID) levy cases, ensuring accurate billing, collection and recovery. Lead reviews of Business Rates reliefs, discounts and exemptions to maximise income and ensure legislative compliance. Process Valuation Office Agency (VOA) Rating List amendments and undertake reconciliations. Monitor Rating List appeals, assess their financial impact and support Business Rates forecasting. Provide technical advice on Business Rates legislation, regulations and case law. Support recovery and enforcement activity, identifying opportunities to improve collection rates and reduce income loss. Assist with annual billing, year-end processes and financial reconciliations. Investigate and resolve complex enquiries, disputes and complaints. Supervise and allocate workloads, monitor performance and deputise for the Revenues Team Leader when required.
