About the Role The individual lives at home with her beloved dogs and enjoys the comfort and familiarity of her own environment. She has Myotonic Dystrophy, which has caused significant muscle weakness affecting both her mobility and respiratory function. Due to reduced respiratory effort, she relies on ventilator support overnight via a tracheostomy and requires appropriately trained carers who can provide attentive, responsive and reassuring support. She also requires regular respiratory management, including tracheal and oral suctioning and the use of a Cough Assist device to help clear secretions, as she is unable to cough effectively independently.
