Mechanical Supervisor

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operation of mechanical and HVAC systems within a commercial building in Central London.

The successful candidate will supervise a team of engineers, ensuring safe working practices, high-quality maintenance and excellent customer service across all building services operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the engineering team, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, site procedures and quality standards.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance of HVAC systems, pumps, valves, water tanks and associated mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose faults using Building Management Systems (BMS) and carry out repairs to mechanical plant and equipment.
• Supervise the installation, modification and repair of pipework systems.
• Manage safety briefings, staff training, performance reviews, attendance and timesheets.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
• Maintain accurate records using CAFM systems and other maintenance platforms.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers, spare parts and materials to support efficient service delivery.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Supervisor, Contract Supervisor or Senior Mechanical Engineer within building services or facilities management.
• NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical plant, pipework and general building services maintenance.
• Experience using BMS for fault diagnosis.
• Understanding of electrical principles, safe isolation and basic controls fault-finding.
• Experience supervising engineering teams and managing maintenance activities.
• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable: Electrical qualifications and Authorised Person (Mechanical) status.
