Are you interested in nursing within our Stroke and Neurology Team? Our large multidisciplinary team delivers state-of-the-art stroke care, including regional thrombectomy, thrombolysis, hyper-acute and acute stroke care and rehabilitation. We lead the West of England’s specialised thrombectomy centre, with national investment and a high volume of cases.Our nurses are involved in the holistic treatment of patients at all stages of their journey, with a named therapist, an individualised treatment plan and therapy sessions offered at the beside or in our therapy rooms and gym to achieve the best outcomes. We support progression into leadership, specialist neuroscience nursing roles and advanced practitioner professions.Main duties of the job
Be responsible for assessment, planning, provision, maintenance and evaluation of patient care.Work within and lead a clinical care team.Be designated on a regular basis to take charge of the ward/department in the absence of the ward manager or senior nurse after two years in post and on an occasional basis within the first two years in post.Take personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that Trust and local policies and procedures are known and followed; ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practice set out in the NMC code of Professional conduct.Take responsibility for the supervision and guidance of other staff including healthcare support workers and students on a daily basis.Actively contribute to a good learning environment by mentoring/assessing learners (eg Student nurses and support worker roles).Working for our organisation

Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential criteriaRegistered Nurse with current live NMC RegistrationEvidence of continuing professional developmentDesirable criteriaTeaching and assessing qualification (998 or equivalent) or willing to undertake after 2 years post registration (secured a position on this type of course)Work Experience
Essential criteriaCompletion of training for additional clinical skills required in the ward/department (e.g., IV drug administration, cannulation and venipuncture, male catheterization, epidural and PCA syringe drivers, ECG training).Currently working in a hospital setting, as a Qualified Nurse or a qualifying student.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Essential criteriaAdvanced communication skills, verbal and written, including report writing and record keeping.Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and multidisciplinary team.Ability to work as part of a team.Sound knowledge of the NMC code of professional conduct and current Nursing issues.Computer/IT skills and the expectation to develop these in line with service needs (Careflow electronic patient record, ICE, Microsoft Teams, email, etc.).Desirable criteria
