Hospice Palliative Care Nursing Assistant

Overview
St Johns Hospice is a 10 bedded in-patient unit based in Balby, Doncaster. Specialist palliative care services provide complex symptom management, psychological support and end of life care to patients and their families within a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment.We are seeking a Nursing Assistant with formal experience of working within a care environment. You should be passionate about providing high quality care and support and want to make a difference to our patients and their families at a difficult time in their lives.Responsibilities
Work alongside our trained nursing staff as part of the In-Patient Unit team and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.Receive training to enable the post holder to work with clients with complex and intensive needs on an individual basis, including using a range of medical/nursing equipment to optimise health, well-being and independence.Contribute to the assessment, implementation and delivery of individualised, evidence-based care.Provide feedback on current patient/service user status to appropriate members of the professional team.Assist in the promotion and maintenance of individual patient/service user activities of daily living.Assist the relevant professional during assessment, treatment or intervention where required.Support the patient/service user to make use of available services and facilities.Follow Health and Safety regulations to promote a safe environment.Contribute and participate within the Clinical Governance framework by attending team and unit meetings and acting as a link person when required (e.g., Health and Safety, Infection Control, audits).Report all accidents/incidents as per policy.Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Trust policies and national guidelines.Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.Maintain a positive attitude to inclusive culture within the organisation.Assist with keeping the patient environment safe and conducive to care.The Hospice offers a long day shift pattern.Qualifications/Requirements
Recent experience in a health/social care setting is essential.Experience in caring for patients with palliative care needs is desirable.Sound communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team and use initiative to support the wider nursing team.We reserve the right to close the vacancy early if there are a high number of applications.
