We''re seeking a registered nurse to work at our NHS funded hospice, operating under Agenda for Change terms and conditions. We are passionate about palliative care and dedicated to making a difference for patients and their families, whether they are here for complex symptom management or end-of-life care.About the role
We are a 10-bedded unit (all en-suite) with staffing ratios that enable you to deliver high-quality care. Set in its own grounds with gardens available for patients, even when they are in bed. You will work alongside the medical team and be part of a team that includes an activity co-ordinator, complementary therapist, and hairdresser to help us go the extra mile for our patients.Responsibilities
Provide person-centred care by spending time with patients and their families, assessing symptoms, and delivering care aligned with patients’ wishes during daily care, including activities of daily living and symptom management.Administer medications and contribute to the development and delivery of care plans in collaboration with the MDT (multidisciplinary team).Participate in the decision-making process throughout the patient’s care pathway and support patients and relatives through the illness/life stage.Support symptom management using various methods to improve quality of life.Support training and supervision of nurse associates and students.Deliver high standards of care in line with local and national initiatives (e.g., Specialist Palliative Care Review, NICE quality standard for end-of-life care).Maintain Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration and adhere to NMC codes of supervision and conduct.What we offer and environment
You will be supported through regular planned management and clinical supervision and will complete a preceptorship package, before progressing toward nurse-in-charge/co-ordinator status in a stepped approach, with an initial focus on orientating you to the hospice environment.Qualifications and experience
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.Passion for palliative care and commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care in a hospice setting.Ability to work effectively within an MDT and provide compassionate support to patients and their families.Additional information
