Our Water and Utilities client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team delivering water mains renewal and infrastructure projects across the Thames Water network on a permanent basis out of Maple Cross offices (Rickmansworth)

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of a portfolio of capital works projects, ensuring effective cost control, accurate forecasting, contract administration, and risk management. Working closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will play a key role in driving value and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and cost control aspects of water mains renewal projects across the Thames Water framework.
• Assist with project budgeting, cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Provide commercial and contractual support to operational and project delivery teams.
• Administer NEC contracts and support the management of contractual obligations and risks.
• Prepare valuations, applications for payment, compensation events, and variations.
• Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
• Support procurement activities and subcontractor management.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
• Produce accurate monthly commercial reports and project forecasts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across project delivery teams.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction, civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
• Experience managing project costs, reporting, and forecasting.
• Good understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to risk management.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience working on water, utilities, pipeline, or civil engineering projects.
• Previous exposure to Thames Water or other regulated utility frameworks.
• Working towards or holding membership with RICS, ICES, or another relevant professional body.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Professional accreditation or working towards chartered status is advantageous.
