Are you an experienced Site Engineer with strong setting out experience and confident using GPS with an iCON controller looking for your next contract opportunity within the Power sector? We are looking for a Site Engineer to support the delivery of a major power infrastructure project in Colchester.

This is a hands-on engineering role, with your day-to-day work focused on the installation of underground ducting and associated civils works. You will be responsible for setting out the line and level of trenches using GPS and an iCON controller, supporting the installation of ducts with a CBS (Cement Bound Sand) surround, testing and backfilling.

Quality and record keeping will also form an important part of the position. You will be responsible for completing daily as-builts, photographs and check forms, ensuring all required information is accurately recorded as works progress.

Previous Power or T&D experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We are primarily looking for an experienced Site Engineer who is confident with setting out, GPS equipment and day-to-day QA documentation.

Job Role

• Setting out line and level of trenches using GPS and an iCON controller
• Setting out and checking underground duct installations
• Overseeing the installation of ducts with CBS (Cement Bound Sand) surround
• Carrying out CBS testing - training will be provided
• Supporting and checking backfilling works
• Completing daily as-built records
• Taking and maintaining photographs of works as they progress
• Completing daily quality and check forms with all required information
• Ensuring works are delivered accurately in accordance with drawings and specifications
• Working closely with the Site Management and construction teams
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and quality throughout the works

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Site Engineer / Civil Engineer
• Strong setting out experience
• Confident using GPS with an iCON controller - essential
• Experience setting out line and level of trenches
• Experience across ducting, utilities, groundworks or similar civils works
• Comfortable completing as-builts, QA documentation, check sheets and photographic records
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Good understanding of site health & safety
• CSCS - essential
• Previous Power / Energy / T&D experience would be advantageous but is not essential
