Fostering Support Worker
Wigan Council are seeking a dedicated Fostering Support Worker to join their team, supporting Kinship Foster Carers and prospective Special Guardians to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people within family networks.Key Knowledge RequirementsStrong understanding of equality, diversity and community cohesion.Knowledge of childcare legislation, including:Fostering RegulationsNational Minimum StandardsCare Planning RegulationsKnowledge of childcare theory and practice.Role ResponsibilitiesProvide high-quality support to Kinship Foster Carers and prospective Special Guardians, helping children remain safely within family and friend networks when they cannot stay with parents.Prioritise safeguarding, stability, and regulatory compliance at all times.Act as a child-focused practitioner, committed to improving experiences and long-term outcomes for children and young people.Work as a team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of:Engaging carersBuilding positive relationships with colleaguesUsing initiative to problem-solve in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrate passion and motivation for supporting vulnerable children to remain within their families wherever possible.Show excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively.Work within a proactive multi-disciplinary team of social workers, support workers, and other professionals supporting Wigan''s children to live in stable family settings.Comply with the National Minimum St
