A specialist SEMH school is recruiting an SEMH Teaching Assistant based in Morecambe. Combining classroom support with pupil transport, this position offers the chance to build positive relationships throughout the day while developing your skills within a school committed to staff progression.

The Role - SEMH Teaching Assistant

Your day will begin by collecting pupils and driving them to school, with return journeys after lessons. You must be based in Morecambe and have a valid driving licence. The school is outside Morecambe.

You will be paid continuously from your first pupil collection to your final pupil drop-off, including the school day and transport time. A school-provided car, fuel covered and an additional driving bonus mean you can undertake these duties without using your own vehicle or paying for fuel.

At school, your SEMH Teaching Assistant duties will include:

• Supporting learning through 1:1 work, small groups and classroom activities
• Helping pupils feel secure through trusting, consistent relationships
• Encouraging emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Identifying signs of distress and using de-escalation strategies
• Reinforcing routines and clear, fair boundaries
• Developing pupils'' confidence, social skills and independence
• Collaborating with teachers and pastoral colleagues

Behaviour is generally manageable compared with many SEMH settings. Physical intervention is infrequent, but may occasionally be required.
