Finance Officer

Location: Doncaster

Salary: £30,000–£35,000 pro rata

Working Hours: 4 days per week, with the opportunity to increase to 5 days, 8am – 4pm

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join their small, busy team at their Doncaster site.

This is a varied role supporting all aspects of the finance function, with additional responsibilities across reporting, project valuations and general administration. The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and experience working in a finance environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Inputting invoices onto Sage Line 50.
• Creating, scanning and logging invoices.
• Preparing and maintaining cash flow spreadsheets using Excel.
• Completing monthly CIS and VAT returns.
• Carrying out bank reconciliations.
• Managing weekly contractor payment runs.
• Processing and paying staff expense claims.
• Providing support with credit control.
• Preparing schedules, statements and reports as required.
• Recording staff holidays and keeping records up to date.
• Maintaining the fixed asset register.
• Preparing monthly financial valuations in line with projects.
• Compiling and monitoring business overheads.
• Implementing and supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Completing VAT returns.
• Preparing and submitting CITB levy

Experience and Skills Required

• Experience in a finance or accounts-based role.
• Knowledge of accounting software, ideally Xero.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial spreadsheets.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• An accountancy qualification, such as AAT, or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, would be desirable.
• Previous experience within the construction industry is highly desirable.
