Operations Manager – Packaging (FMCG)

Location: Birmingham
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, flexible 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm

We are currently recruiting an experienced Operations Manager – Packaging to join a growing FMCG manufacturing business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and commercially minded operational leader to take ownership of a busy packaging operation, drive improvements and develop the wider team.

The business is continuing to invest in its manufacturing facilities, production capabilities and future growth, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to make a genuine impact.

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day performance and development of the packaging operation.

You will lead the packaging team, work closely with production and engineering colleagues, and identify opportunities to improve operational performance, efficiency and ways of working.

A key part of the position will be developing the management team, challenging established processes and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

• Take overall responsibility for the performance and management of the packaging operation.

• Lead, motivate and develop Team Leaders and Shift Managers.

• Drive operational improvements, efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Review existing processes and introduce improved ways of working.

• Challenge established practices and lead positive cultural and operational change.

• Develop management capability through coaching, mentoring and support.

• Monitor operational performance, identify areas for improvement and implement action plans.

• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering and other departments to ensure effective operations.

• Support future business growth, new production lines and operational investment.

• Promote high standards of health and safety, quality and operational performance.

We are looking for a strong and resilient operational leader who can bring energy, direction and fresh thinking to an established manufacturing team.

You will be confident making decisions, challenging existing practices and managing different personalities while maintaining positive working relationships.

Essential experience:

• Previous management experience within a manufacturing or fast-paced operational environment.

• Experience managing production, packaging or operational teams.

• Proven ability to lead and develop Team Leaders and management teams.

• Strong leadership skills with the confidence to drive change.

• Experience improving processes, operational performance and efficiency.

• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

• A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and deliver results.

Desirable experience:

• Food and beverage or FMCG manufacturing experience.

• Experience within packaging operations.

• Experience managing multiple shifts and operational teams.

• A background in continuous improvement and organisational development.
