Provide consultant clinical leadership to the service and assume consultant psychiatrist responsibility for patients aligned to their GP practice and looked after by the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team (IoD NMHT).Possess or take on Responsible Clinician status for detained patients on leave and for patients subject to Community Treatment Orders; lead on compliance with the Mental Health Act and CQC requirements as appropriate.Participate in the assessment of patients referred to the service and draft care plans addressing psychiatric, physical and social needs.Carry out detailed psychiatric assessments to allow accurate diagnoses and devise treatment plans, including pharmacological management of psychotropic medications and delivery of evidence-based treatments.Work within the recovery-focused approach, placing the service user at the centre of planning and decision making.Maintain effective communication with the patient\''s care coordinator and GP; involve carers and other professionals in care plan reviews when indicated.Contribute to inpatient wards and community services, maintaining strong links with IoD NMHT and Tower Hamlets Early Intervention for Psychosis Services (THEIS).Participate in the service with a plan that may include 7.5 PAs direct clinical care (DCC) and 2.5 PAs for supporting programmed activities (SPA), with the WTE to be developed to meet service needs.About Us

The Job Description is currently pending Royal College approval. The post-holder will provide consultant clinical leadership to the service and assume responsibility for patients aligned to their GP and looked after by the IoD NMHT, including the possibility of leading on detained patients on leave and those subject to Community Treatment Orders. Responsibilities may include lead roles in Mental Health Act and CQC compliance, and ensuring care plans address psychiatric, physical and social needs. The role involves clinical assessments, planning, and delivery of evidence-based treatments, with emphasis on recovery and collaboration with care coordinators and GPs.QualificationsEssential: Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent); Fully registered with GMC; Eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register (or Specialist Registrar within 6 months of gaining CCT); Membership of the Royal College Of Psychiatrists (or equivalent); Eligible for Approved Clinician status (MHA, 2007).Desirable: Higher degree in a relevant area.KnowledgeEssential: Experience of clinical work in General Adult Psychiatry at ST4-6 or Consultant level in the last three years; Experience and knowledge of psychopharmacology; Excellent knowledge of Mental Health Act; Understanding of social aspects relevant to psychiatry.Desirable: Previous experience on a general adult inpatient ward.Clinical SkillsEssential: Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and provide leadership; Expertise in risk formulation and evidence-based interventions for psychosis, mood disorders and co-morbidities; Commitment to clinical governance.Desirable: Senior leadership experience.Disclosure and SponsorshipThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 (Exceptions Order) and requires submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
