Are you a confident individual with strong classroom management skills, or a graduate considering a career in teaching?

Humly is looking for adaptable Cover Supervisors to support client secondary schools across the Teesside area, including Middlesbrough, Stockton, and Redcar.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during short-term teacher absences. You do not need to plan lessons; your primary focus is delivering pre-set work, keeping students on task, and maintaining high behavioural standards in the classroom.

Whether you want full-time stability or flexible day-to-day work around your lifestyle, this role offers valuable secondary school experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes and deliver work set by absent subject teachers.

  • Implement school behaviour policies firmly and consistently to ensure a calm learning atmosphere.

  • Keep pupils engaged, motivated, and focused on completing their assigned tasks.

  • Assist students with general queries and provide constructive feedback to departmental staff.

  • Ensure health and safety protocols are followed across all classroom environments.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, youth work, coaching, or tutoring.

  • Confident behaviour management skills and the ability to command authority in a classroom.

  • Excellent communication, resilience, and adaptability.

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including English and Maths), or equivalent.

  • Degree qualification is advantageous for aspiring teachers, but not essential.

Why Work with Humly?

  • Competitive daily pay rates paid weekly via PAYE with no hidden fees.

  • Work via the Humly App: accept bookings, view school details, and update availability straight from your phone.

  • Dedicated support from your local North East consultant.

  • Free access to accredited CPD modules including behaviour management and safeguarding.

  • Refer a friend bonus scheme.

Safeguarding: Humly is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All candidates will be subject to a strict compliance and vetting process in accordance with DfE guidance (Keeping Children Safe in Education), including an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, overseas police checks (where applicable), and professional reference checks.

Humly is an equal opportunity employer and an APSCo Compliance+ accredited education recruiter.
