Operations Manager

Location: South / South East England (Confidential Client)

Salary: -70,000 - -90,000 per annum + 25% Performance-Based Bonus (KPIs)

About the Role

We are representing an established, high-profile specialist roofing and construction contractor who is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead their operational delivery, drive service excellence, and mentor high-performing teams.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will take high-level oversight of all active operations while managing a select number of flagship projects from inception to completion. You will ensure seamless cross-functional workflows, robust financial control, strict health & safety compliance, and deep alignment with company values and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational & Project Leadership: Direct a small portfolio of high-profile projects (1-3) while maintaining overarching strategic oversight of all other ongoing roofing operations. Implement efficient schedules, robust quality assurance frameworks (utilizing tech platforms like iAuditor), and a "finish strong" post-completion support ethos.

• Resource & Supply Chain Management: Optimize workforce allocation based on specialism, coordinate material procurement streams, oversee administrative equipment and tool logs, and cultivate strong commercial supplier relationships.

• Team Development & Culture: Conduct routine Personal Development Plan (PDP) reviews, spearhead technical training sessions, and act as a central mediator for conflict resolution.

• Financial & Commercial Control: Collaborate closely with pre-construction teams during tendering to deliver price certainty, monitor monthly job costings against budgets, and actively evaluate profit margins.

• Compliance & Process Optimization: Enforce strict adherence to regional/national safety regulations alongside independent safety auditors, analyze daily workflows to eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure the order book remains updated.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven track record of senior operational leadership within the roofing, facade, or broader construction/envelope sector.

• Exceptional capabilities in project delivery, financial budgeting, and commercial cost control.

• Strong command of health and safety regulations, supply chain dynamics, and quality assurance methodologies.

• Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrable ability to engage effectively with site teams, general managers, and company directors.
