OverviewExciting Opportunity: Construction Support Manager. Are you ready to play a key role in shaping major infrastructure projects? We\''re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Construction Support Manager to join our team. In this pivotal position, you\''ll support the Construction Manager and collaborate closely with programme and project teams to ensure seamless planning and execution across all phases of construction.
From pre-construction strategy to on-site delivery, you\''ll help drive performance across cost, schedule, safety, and quality benchmarks. Your expertise will be vital in overseeing contractors’ site works, utility diversions, enabling works, and the commissioning of new assets into service.
Key Accountabilities
Assist with works construction planning expertise, review and challenge proposed construction methodologies developed by internal teams or by suppliers, propose innovative solutions to solve complex construction challenges.
Assist with the process that works construction generally meet the project\''s programme objectives.
Assist with the process that works construction schedules and methodologies integrate with interfacing projects.
Assist with the risk management process. and take responsibility for construction-related activities
Assist with the contract procurement process in collaboration with the procurement team.
Ensure the works are constructed and commissioned in accordance with the works contracts.
Provide on-site supervision, to ensure that works construction complies with specified requirements, standards, Code of Construction Practice and associated requirements.
Monitor works contractors'' construction activities and provide reports to the business.
Liaise with interfacing projects and co-ordinate associated works construction activities.
Assist with ensuring that works construction activities comply with relevant safety legislation and LU safety requirements collaborating with the CDM Client and Principal Designer as required when acting as Principal Contractor
Assist with the process for approval of the logistical, construction, commissioning and handover processes proposed by works contractors.
Assist with the process for approval of the construction/installation/commissioning schedules proposed by works contractors.
Assist with the process for approval of the amounts payable to works contractors.

Knowledge
Good awareness of construction methods plant and equipment installation, finishes and systems integration. (Essential)
Good all-round knowledge of the application of health and safety/CDM legislation and corporate safety procedures within the railway and construction environments. (Essential)
Awareness of NEC ECC contracts and contract administration. (Desirable)
Good understanding of the role and duties of LU/TfL and other related organisations, the consents/planning process in London, departmental and other relevant LU/TfL procedures. (Desirable)
Qualified in an appropriate building, engineering or project management discipline. (Desirable)
A good understanding of planning and scheduling with emphasis on critical path activities. (Essential)
Experience
Experience of working on major multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects between £1 to £30 million in total value. (Desirable)
Experience of operating in a multi-contractor site environment. (Essential)
Experience of working in construction projects in an urban environment. (Desirable)
Experience of commissioning and handover of infrastructure assets for operational use and effective construction phasing. (Essential)
Experience of working in project management in a large, complex, safety focussed and regulated organisation, where there are multiple complex interfaces and delivering to time, budget and quality is essential. (Essential)
Experience of building relationships and influencing with a range of people at all levels within and outside the organisation. (Essential)

Additional Information
This role requires to work nights and weekends across the network as needed.
This is a safety critical role so you will need to get clearance from our Occupational Health team before you start.
