Job summary: An exciting opportunity for a locum consultant radiologist (12 months fixed term) to join Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post serves a population of around 750,000 and covers general radiology with a focus on Urology and Gynaecology imaging. The post holder will be primarily located at Queen''s/ King George Hospital, Romford, and may work at Barking CDC and St George''s CDC in Hornchurch.Responsibilities
Share an office space and secretarial support with another colleague with access to a PACS reporting station.Report MRI prostate and MRI pelvis for women’s imaging; perform ultrasound of the renal pelvis including transvaginal approach.Report cross-sectional images for general radiology on MRI and CT scanners at the CDC centres, King George''s and Queen''s Hospital.Contribute to the general duty roster and hot reporting sessions.Contribute to the specialist MDTs with other colleagues in rotation.Attend mandatory department meetings regularly.Share on-call commitment equally with the general radiology consultants.Have a PC and a reporting workstation for remote access to images for on-call purposes.On-call and MDTs
There is an on-call service for general radiology led by an on-call consultant who is expected to report urgent AE and inpatient CT scans during specified hours on weekdays and weekends. The successful candidate will be expected to attend and contribute to weekly Urology and Gynaecology MDT meetings (a 1:4 MDT rota).Role Requirements
We are seeking a dedicated radiologist with a subspecialty interest in Urology and Gynaecology to join our team. The candidate will report a range of general cross-sectional imaging and will play a key role in imaging and reporting MRI prostate scans using a standardized Likert scoring system. Proficiency in MRI Gynaecology imaging, including pelvic malignancies, endometriosis and fibroids, is essential. Experience in transvaginal/transanal ultrasound is desirable. We have a dedicated interventional radiology team providing urology and gynaecological interventions.This role offers a supportive and innovative environment and opportunities to contribute to the advancement of imaging services in Urology and Gynaecology. The successful candidate will attend and contribute to weekly Urology and Gynaecology MDT meetings and participate in a 1:4 MDT rota to ensure equitable workload distribution while maintaining high service standards.There is an on-call service for general radiology; it is consultant led, and the on-call consultant is expected to report urgent AE and inpatient CT scans during specified hours.Essential and Desirable Qualifications
Essential: Fellowship in body/abdominal imaging or equivalent relevant experience in urology and gynaecology imaging.Essential: Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (or equivalent).Essential: Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CCT date within six months of interview OR holder of specialist registration via CESR/portfolio pathway.Desirable: MRCP/MRCS.Desirable: Logbook.Details
