We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and highly respected construction company based in Aberdeen.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a successful construction business.

Working alongside experienced commercial and operational teams, you will gain valuable experience across all aspects of quantity surveying, from tendering and procurement through to cost management and final accounts.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the commercial management of construction projects, ensuring costs are effectively monitored and projects are delivered within budget.

Candidates must live within commuting distance of Aberdeen or be willing to relocate. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team with the financial and contractual management of construction projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing bills of quantities and schedules of works for tendering and pricing purposes.

• Assisting with subcontractor and supplier enquiries during the tender process.

• Supporting subcontractor procurement, contract agreements, payments and awards.

• Preparing and reviewing valuations, ensuring payments and invoices are processed accurately.

• Measuring and remeasuring works from drawings and site measurements.

• Assisting with the management of contract variations and notifying subcontractors of changes.

• Supporting the commercial management of contractual matters.

• Providing cost advice and information to design consultants and project teams.

• Assisting with monthly cost/value reconciliations and financial reporting.

• Supporting the preparation and agreement of subcontractor and client final accounts.

• Attending project and commercial meetings, providing updates and maintaining accurate records.

• Working closely with site teams, subcontractors and senior commercial staff to ensure effective cost control.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and commercially aware individual who is keen to develop their career in quantity surveying.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role within construction.

• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.

• An understanding of construction contracts, procurement and cost management.

• Experience assisting with budgets, valuations, variations and financial reporting.

• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Candidates must be based within commuting distance of Aberdeen or be prepared to relocate.
