Main Grade Lecturer - Childcare (Part Time 0.6FTE)

This is a part-time post (minimum 0.6 FTE, salary prorata) within our Education and Care department at Wood Street Campus, offering real flexibility on hours for the right candidate. You will deliver high-quality teaching across Childcare and Supporting Teaching and Learning programmes from Level 1 to Level 6, including T Level Early Years and Higher Education programmes, helping learners build the knowledge, skills and professional values they need to succeed in childcare and education settings.
Despite being part time, the role carries the same depth and responsibility as its full-time counterpart. You will take on personal tutor and course leader responsibilities, contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance, and play an active part in the life of the department. What You'll Be Doing
Here is a flavour of what you will be getting involved in:
- Inspiring teaching: Deliver high-quality, motivating and inclusive sessions across Childcare and Supporting Teaching and Learning programmes at Levels 1 to 6, including T Level Early Years and HE programmes, adapting your approach to suit learners of different ages, backgrounds and abilities.
- Learner success: Monitor and track learner progress, maintain accurate records and statistical data, and ensure learners are supported through assessment, work placements and progression to employment or further study.
- Course leadership: Act as Personal Tutor and/or Course Leader, monitoring attendance, liaising with parents and guardians, leading quality assurance activity and supporting the smooth running of your programme areas.
- Curriculum development: Contribute enthusiastically to curriculum planning, development and improvement, individually and as part of the Education and Care team, keeping provision current and aligned to sector and awarding body requirements.
- Work placements: Support the development and management of safe, appropriate work placement opportunities for learners, helping them connect classroom learning to real practice in childcare and education settings.
- Wider contribution: Participate in induction, advice and guidance events, open days, parents evenings and enrolment, and contribute to the College's quality assurance and inspection preparation processes.
What You'll Bring
We are looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic childcare professional who is committed to high-quality teaching and learner success.
Essential
- A relevant degree in Early Years, Childcare, Education or a closely related subject
- A relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE/CertEd or equivalent)
- Relevant vocational experience in childcare, Early Years or a related sector
- Successful teaching experience including the delivery and assessment of Supporting Teaching and Learning courses
- Experience of teaching learners across a range of abilities, ages and backgrounds
- Proven classroom management and administrative skills
Good IT skills and ability to contribute to the development of ILT strategies - Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, under pressure and to deadlines
Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding
Even Better If You Have...
- A Master's degree in a relevant subject
- An assessor award or Internal Quality Assurance qualification
- Experience delivering T Level Early Years provision
- Experience of curriculum development
