We are looking for a caring, committed and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant, Aylesbury to join a specialist educational setting, supporting children and young people with additional needs. As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Aylesbury, you will provide individual and small-group support, helping pupils engage with learning while developing their confidence, communication and independence. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a calm, structured and nurturing environment, adapting your approach to meet individual pupil needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school or another relevant support setting. You should be patient, consistent and compassionate, with the ability to build positive relationships and remain calm when faced with challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
  • Supporting pupils with learning, communication and independence
  • Working alongside teaching staff to deliver individualised support strategies
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Supporting pupils with transitions and daily routines
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Adapting support according to individual learning and communication needs

The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Will Have

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
  • Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support
  • A patient, caring and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain calm and professional when situations become challenging
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively
  • The ability to adapt support to meet individual needs
  • A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their potential
