Finance Assistant
Part-time | 25 hours per week across five days | Office-based, Watford | up to £38,000 full-time equivalent

A Watford-based business is looking for a capable Finance Assistant to support its day-to-day finance operations. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys keeping accurate records, resolving account queries and helping customer payments come in on time.

What you’ll be doing

• Maintain customer accounts and keep sales ledger records up to date.

• Allocate incoming payments and investigate differences or unallocated cash.

• Monitor overdue balances and contact customers to agree payment dates.

• Respond to account and invoice queries, working with colleagues to resolve issues.

• Prepare regular reports on outstanding balances and flag accounts needing attention.

• Carry out account and bank reconciliations.

• Provide support with supplier invoices, statements and payment preparation.

• Help ensure finance records are accurate and deadlines are met.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in credit control, sales ledger or a broad finance support role.

• Confidence speaking with customers about invoices and payments.

• Good attention to detail and a practical, organised approach to managing your workload.

• Comfortable working independently while contributing to a small team.

• Good Excel skills and experience using a finance system; Sage experience would be useful.

The role is office-based in Watford for 25 hours each week, spread across five days. Salary is the salary is circa £25,000 per year, based on a £38,000 full-time equivalent.
