Overview

Locum Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – soft tissue and knee arthroplasty. Fixed-term position to increase skill mix within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Service at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust. Candidates should demonstrate specialist knowledge and experience in treating sub specialty conditions both electively and in trauma, with broad experience in general trauma.Responsibilities

This is a full-time post attracting 10 Programmed Activities per week, with the opportunity to discuss taking on further PAs upon appointment. The successful candidate will be part of the fixed 1:10 on-call consultant rota, deliver outpatient services onsite with outreach locations, and provide elective operating at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) and on-site at Kingston Hospital to support increasing emergency knee demand. The post holder will work proactively in the busy unit and contribute to ongoing service development. Regular soft tissue knee and revision knee MDTs take place and engagement is required. The unit participates in multi-center randomized controlled trials and further research is encouraged.Qualifications and Experience

Essential:Full GMC RegistrationFRCS or evidence of equivalent training and experienceCCT or DATE within 6 months or eligible for entry on GMC’s Specialist RegisterDesirable:Higher degreeClinical ExperienceMotivated to achieve defined targetsOrganisation of education and training of junior doctors and/or undergraduatesExcellent clinical skillsProven abilities in day surgerySkills in Soft Tissue Knee and Knee Arthroplasty SurgeryFellowship trainedSpecific Additional SkillsExperience of clinical supervisionManagement SkillsEvidence of effective leadership (e.g. quality improvement projects, service improvement)Experience in Training, Audit and ResearchDemonstrable commitment to teaching and trainingEffective teaching and presentation skillsExperience of clinical auditRelevant peer-reviewed publicationsPersonal QualitiesCompassionate patient care and excellent patient experienceApproachable; effective leadership within multidisciplinary teamsAbility to motivate staff and implement changes in clinical practiceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCollaborative across agenciesCommitment to continuing professional development and clinical governanceInnovative, positive attitude, enthusiasm, good attendanceOther Requirements
