Supply Desk is currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Watford. The school is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to support students with autism in a nurturing and inclusive environment. This is an ASAP start role, with the possibility to extend further for the right candidate.

The school is known for its strong support networks for both students and staff, and the leadership team is committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. The school provides a variety of resources to support students, including dedicated spaces for sensory support, and a team of specialists who work closely with the classroom teachers.

Job Description:

• 
  

  To support students with autism on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, providing tailored support to meet individual learning needs.

• 
  

  To assist the teacher in creating and implementing lesson plans that are engaging and accessible for children with autism.

• 
  

  To promote positive behaviour and work closely with the school''s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to monitor and assess students'' progress.

• 
  

  To provide support during social times and help foster positive interactions with peers.

• 
  

  To assist with sensory support and any other individual needs as required.

Our ideal candidate will:

• 
  

  Have experience working with children with autism (preferable but not essential).

• 
  

  Have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.

• 
  

  Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• 
  

  Be patient, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships with students.

• 
  

  Be proactive, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

• 
  

  Hold a clear DBS check or be willing to apply for one.
