Fire and Security Business Development Engineer

£45,000-£50,000 basic, depending on experience + commission Company car or car allowance, 2x Death in Service, company perks
 
We are looking for an experienced Service Business Development Engineer to develop and grow recurring service contract revenue and generate new opportunities across fire, security, electrical and compliance services.
 
The role will focus on winning new maintenance contracts, managing existing customer relationships and identifying opportunities for remedial works, upgrades, small projects and compliance improvements.
 
You will work closely with operational teams and engineers to ensure a smooth handover of new contracts while maximising commercial opportunities.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Identify and secure new service and maintenance contracts.
• Manage contract renewals and help retain existing customers.
• Carry out customer reviews and identify opportunities to increase recurring revenue.
• Conduct site surveys and assess customer requirements.
• Prepare, present and negotiate service quotations and proposals.
• Generate opportunities for remedial works, reactive works, upgrades and small installations.
• Follow up quotations and maximise conversion rates.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key accounts.
• Identify new customers and develop business through networking, referrals and industry contacts.
• Develop cross-selling opportunities across the wider business.
• Work closely with service managers, engineers and operational teams.
• Ensure accurate handover of new contracts and projects.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience selling service contracts, maintenance agreements or technical services.
• Proven experience in business development and account management.
• Experience within fire, security, electrical, FM or a related engineering industry.
• Ability to understand technical specifications and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication, negotiation and commercial skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable: Knowledge of fire alarm, security or electrical systems; experience within a service-led engineering business; knowledge of BS5839, BS5266, NSI, BAFE and relevant electrical regulations; experience using quotation or service management software.
