The opportunityWe have an opportunity for a Senior Accountant (FTC) to join us on the exciting and rewarding path we are taking here at Castle Trust Bank. Having become a fully authorised bank in 2020, we pride ourselves in being a fintech challenger bank, providing specialist property mortgages, retail finance lending and savings accounts to a variety of customers.Joining our Finance function, this is a key role supporting technical areas of Finance including the development of new processes and models relating to technical accounting matters, financial statements disclosures and the associated auditor relationships.Responsibilities
Finance technical models
– manage and enhance key Finance models (including amortised cost, EIR, and hedge accounting), ensuring validation, monitoring, accurate data, and reconciliations. Oversee monthly outputs, analyse significant changes, and own stage 3 individually assessed mortgage impairment models, while supporting automation and collaborating with the credit risk team.MI, financial statements and audit
– manage monthly MI models, ensuring the accuracy of all inputs, outputs, and technical disclosures in the financial statements. Validate and review financial statements (cashflows and credit risk), monitor audit comments, and coordinate the front half of the financial statements with Risk, Legal, and HR to meet legal, disclosure, and consistency requirements. Conduct going concern assessments at year end.Assist with
going concern assessments
and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure alignment of disclosures and data integrity.The role will be on a hybrid working arrangement, 3 days a week from either our Basingstoke or London office and the rest of the week from home.
Please note this is a fixed-term contract opportunity for up to 6 months in duration.Qualifications
Proven experience in retail banking accounting with an accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).Technical accounting knowledge, including a good understanding of IFRS 9 and ECL calculations.Strong understanding of Finance processes and underlying data flows; experience with key Finance systems (general ledger, reconciliation systems).Experience with working with third-party consultants/auditors; previous audit experience in retail banks is advantageous.Advanced Excel skills; Power BI knowledge is advantageous.Excellent communication and the ability to influence across teams; professional mindset with strong planning and organisational skills.What’s in it for you
