Payroll Specialist - 12 month contract

Start date: ASAP (to start by the end of November 2026)

Location: Marlow

Salary: -34,000 - -40,000 + 23 days holiday + bens + hybrid working + flexible hours

Our client:

Gleeson Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a highly renowned and well-respected and established Accountancy Firm, based in Marlow and who have a superb reputation for providing their UK and International clients with accountancy and tax and payroll services.

You will enjoy building long term business relationships with their clients, and you will be joining a growing Payroll Team of 4, as a Payroll Specialist.

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist who wants to thrive in a fast-paced, and collaborative environment.

What you will be doing:

• The Payroll Specialist ensures that all of the clients payrolls are processed accurately and on time for both weekly and monthly payrolls
• Process weekly and monthly payrolls for a varied portfolio of clients, from initial data collection through to payslips, providing RTI submissions and payroll reports.
• Administer workplace pension schemes, including auto-enrolment duties and ongoing pension submissions.
• Prepare and submit monthly Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns within HMRC deadlines.
• Prepare BACS payment files for employee salaries and relevant HMRC liabilities.
• Respond to client payroll queries in a timely and professional manner, referring more complex matters to the appropriate manager.
• Liaise with clients to obtain payroll information, clarify discrepancies and ensure deadlines are met
• Handling all payroll queries from all clients
• Following all payroll processes at all times and keeping them current
• Working closely with the wider finance team, to support month-end as well as any project work
• Ensure all payrolls are calculated and submitted correctly, with checks completed before completion
• Meeting weekly and monthly deadlines - processing every payroll on time each month and flagging any errors where needed
• Keeping up to date with all HMRC and pension requirements

Your profile as the successful Payroll Specialist

• Previously experience of working in a similar Payroll role - ideally from within a Firm of Accountants
• The ability to hit the ground running
• Knowledge of all Payroll areas and outsourced payroll responsibilities
• Able to mutli-task and work closely with all levels of finance
• Be able to commute to Marlow at least 3 days per week (full parking available)
