You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.Role OverviewWSP is seeking an Associate Director / Associate / Principal Fluvial Geomorphologist / Hydromorphologist within the Catchment Science team. The role focuses on specialisms such as fluvial geomorphology, Water Framework Directive (WFD), natural flood management (NFM), nature-based solutions (NbS), weir removal, river and catchment enhancement, and biodiversity net gain (BNG) for watercourses. You will play a key role in delivering our growth strategy and mentoring team members.This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape your role, contribute to diverse projects, and support the growth of our Hydromorphology Service area. You will work within a team of technical specialists and collaborate across various service lines, engaging in projects across sectors like water, transport, energy, and habitat restoration.We value innovation and technical excellence, operating at the leading edge of professional practice. Our team is committed to diversity, inclusion, and flexible working arrangements.Responsibilities include:Taking ownership of hydromorphology growth initiativesUndertaking geomorphology assessmentsProviding technical support and mentorshipDeveloping training materials and proposalsLeading watercourse assessments and river enhancement designCollaborating with multidisciplinary teamsInnovating tools and contributing to business developmentProducing high-quality reports and managing project schedules and budgetsMentoring junior staff and fostering professional growthBuilding relationships across the consultancy to enhance service offeringsCandidate Profile:Proven experience in fluvial geomorphology and WFD, including project management and team leadershipRelevant degree (BSc or MSc) in environmental science or geographyKnowledge of UK/EU water legislation and biodiversity policiesExperience with WFD assessments and river designMembership of CIWEM, CIEEM, RGS; chartership preferred but WSP supports developmentStrong communication, report writing, and collaboration skillsWhy Join Us?We offer a supportive environment with flexible working, professional development opportunities, and a culture that values diversity and inclusion.
