Salary: andpound;90 andndash; andpound;120 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role:
A welcoming and inclusive school in Winslow is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils with hearing impairments. You will play a vital role in helping these students access the curriculum, develop communication skills, and thrive socially and academically in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside class teachers to adapt lessons and resources for pupils with hearing impairments.
- Support communication through radio aids, visual prompts, and lip-reading techniques.
- Deliver targeted interventions 1:1 and in small groups, focusing on listening, language, and social skills.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), risk assessments, and therapy care programmes.
- Liaise closely with the SENCO, parents, and external professionals such as Teachers of the Deaf.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with hearing impairments or a keen interest in developing skills in this area.
- Good understanding of SEN and inclusive practices.
- British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1andndash;3 or Makaton training (desirable).
- Experience in phonics support, particularly for pupils with cochlear implants (desirable).
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a proactive approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
