Environmental Health Officer
A London-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join their Housing and Environmental Services team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a key role supporting the delivery of statutory housing enforcement, HMO licensing, and private sector housing standards across the borough. The successful candidate will take responsibility for investigating housing complaints, carrying out inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant housing legislation. You will play a vital role in identifying substandard housing conditions and taking appropriate enforcement action where required, including the preparation and service of statutory notices and attendance at court proceedings when necessary. You will also be responsible for the regulation and licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and Mobile Home Sites, ensuring all regulatory standards are met. The role involves providing expert advice to tenants, landlords, businesses, and members of the public, supporting compliance and improving housing standards across the borough. In addition, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the Private Sector Housing Strategy and participate in cross-divisional initiatives as required.
