Senior / Lead Ventilation Hygiene Engineer

Location: Enfield, Watford, Harlow, Chelmsford & surrounding areas (with travel and some overnight stays)
Salary: Competitive + Overtime + Bonus + Benefits
Contract: Full-time, permanent

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Ventilation Hygiene Engineer ready to step up into a senior role? This is an exciting chance to join a growing compliance organisation that has been setting the benchmark in the industry for many years. Known for quality, safety, and technical expertise, they continue to expand rapidly and are now seeking a Senior / Lead Engineer to take a key role in their operations team.

This position goes beyond ductwork cleaning. You’ll be a senior figure on site, responsible for leading engineers, overseeing complex ventilation projects, and ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards of compliance and safety. You’ll work with an impressive client base across healthcare, education, retail, industrial, and commercial sectors – every day brings something different.

If you are ambitious, technically skilled, and motivated to lead by example, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career with a forward-thinking business that invests in its people and rewards excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Senior / Lead Engineer, you’ll be trusted to deliver high-quality ventilation hygiene and compliance services nationwide. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage projects, guide junior engineers, and ensure client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading site teams of engineers and technicians, ensuring projects are completed safely and to standard.

  • Overseeing and carrying out cleaning/disinfection of ventilation systems, AHUs, and kitchen extract systems.

  • Supporting fire damper testing and remedial works.

  • Conducting inspections, compliance checks, and microbial testing where required.

  • Managing all project documentation, including RAMS, reports, and before/after evidence.

  • Acting as the key point of contact for clients, offering technical advice and clear updates.

  • Mentoring, training, and supporting junior engineers to raise overall standards.

  • Maintaining equipment, PPE, and tools in line with professional standards.

  • Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety legislation including COSHH and Working at Height.

About You

We’re looking for a practical leader who enjoys working on-site, managing teams, and delivering technical excellence.

Essential experience and skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in ventilation hygiene or ductwork cleaning.

  • Sound knowledge of TR19® standards.

  • Previous experience leading or supervising teams.

  • Strong technical understanding of ventilation systems.

  • Valid CSCS card and full UK driving licence.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • BESA Vent Hygiene Elite (VHE) certification.

  • Confined Space Training (C&G or equivalent).

  • IPAF, PASMA, or Working at Height training.

  • Knowledge of HTM 03-01 for healthcare settings.

  • Asbestos Awareness certification.

Above all, you’ll be detail-driven, compliance-focused, and confident in leading others while working directly with clients.

What’s in It for You?

This role offers much more than a standard engineering job. You’ll be joining a supportive and ambitious company that values its people and provides real career progression.

You’ll receive:

  • Competitive salary with overtime and bonus opportunities.

  • Company van, fuel card, and expense card.

  • 22 days holiday (plus bank holidays).

  • Pension scheme.

  • Full PPE, tools, and uniform provided.

  • Ongoing training and development to support career growth.

  • Opportunities to progress into more senior operational roles as the business expands.

Working Conditions

The role involves nationwide travel and some overnight stays, as well as flexibility for early mornings, nights, or weekends when required. Work can be physically demanding, including confined space and working at height – full PPE and specialist training will be provided.

Why Apply?

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Ventilation Hygiene Engineer to step into a senior position, lead teams, and take on more responsibility in a business that is thriving and expanding. You’ll gain exposure to high-profile projects, work with a supportive team, and have the chance to progress as the company grows.

If you’re passionate about ventilation hygiene, compliance, and leading by example, this role offers the perfect next step in your career.
