We are changing the way people and businesses think about cybersecurity, digital experiences, and identity and access management.We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team of 13 engineers and QA professionals across the UK (5) and Bangalore (8) in building next-generation Identity platform applications. This is a management-focused role (80% management, 20% hands-on technical) requiring a leader who can scale teams, drive technical excellence, and navigate complex international development challenges.The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing distributed engineering teams, strong technical depth in modern web technologies, and excellent cross-cultural communication skills. You’ll be responsible for team growth, delivery excellence, stakeholder management, and removing technical and organizational blockers to enable your team''s success.What You’ll Be Doing

Team Leadership and Management (80%)

Lead and mentor a team of 13 engineers and QA professionals across UK and BangaloreConduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planningManage hiring, onboarding, and talent development across both locationsLead technical interviews and participate in the broader engineering hiring processFoster a collaborative, inclusive culture across time zones and cultural differencesDrive team productivity through effective project management and Agile/Scrum practicesManage external dependencies and coordinate with stakeholders across the EMEA regionProvide escalation support and unblock technical and organizational challengesEstablish and track team performance metrics and delivery goalsFacilitate cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharingTechnical Leadership (20%)

Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy for Identity and Access Management (IAM) web applicationsParticipate in code reviews and maintain technical standardsOccasionally implement critical features or provide technical guidance on complex problemsCollaborate with UX and product teams to refine features and ensure excellent user experienceWork with backend teams to design API interfaces and system integrationsEnsure security best practices and maintain legacy React-based UIsDebug production issues across the PingForgeRock Identity Cloud platformOperational Excellence

Drive continuous improvement in development processes and team efficiencyManage project timelines, resource allocation, and delivery commitmentsCoordinate releases and maintain high-quality standards across the platformChampion engineering best practices and industry standardsRequirements

Management and Leadership

3+ years of engineering management experience, preferably with distributed teamsExperience managing teams across different time zones and culturesStrong project management skills with proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologiesProven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talentExperience with performance management and career developmentExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsTechnical Background

5+ years of software development experience with modern web technologiesStrong foundation in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web application developmentExperience with React.js, Vue.js, Angular, or similar modern frameworksUnderstanding of authentication, authorization, and identity management systemsKnowledge of RESTful services, CORS, SSL/TLS, and security protocolsBS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experienceNice To Have

Experience managing teams in India or other international locationsKnowledge of application security practices (OWASP Top 10)Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platformsUnderstanding of multiple application architectures (SPA, SSR, microservices)Familiarity with identity and access management at enterprise scaleExperience with web accessibility standardsWhy Should You Join Us?
