SEND Support for Recent Graduates

• A Graduate Teaching Assistant will reinforce teacher-led phonics, reading and numeracy activities in small groups or individually.
• The Graduate Teaching Assistant may support pupils with autism, ADHD or speech and language needs using agreed communication strategies.
• As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will encourage independence, social interaction and emotional regulation within classroom routines.
• A successful Graduate Teaching Assistant will share relevant observations with teachers and SENCOs about engagement and EHCP-related targets.
• Help prepare accessible learning resources and follow school safeguarding procedures.

What We''re Looking For in a Graduate Teaching Assistant

• A relevant degree for a Graduate Teaching Assistant role, such as Psychology, Education Studies, Early Childhood Studies, Childhood Studies or another SEND-related subject.
• Transferable experience from tutoring, youth work, care, mentoring, childcare, coaching or volunteering is valuable; previous school employment is not essential.
• Patience, reflective communication and genuine interest in inclusive education.
• Reliable attendance, confidentiality and strong safeguarding awareness.
