Salary: M1–UPS3 (£34,398–£52,490, pro rata)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Harpenden for a full-time, one-term position starting in September 2026.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging, well-planned lessons that inspire pupils, encourage high standards of achievement and support their academic, social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons for a Year 5 class in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Support pupils'' academic, social and emotional development.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to support continued learning.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants and parents/carers.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Uphold the school''s safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply and will be fully supported.
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5, is desirable.
  • A secure understanding of the National Curriculum.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A positive, proactive and reflective approach to teaching.
