Freelance Estimator - St. Albans - Ongoing

Our client is a premier chartered construction specialist delivering exceptional niche projects across residential property development, and complex construction projects throughout the UK.

As an Estimator you will carry out niche, high-end residential-development tenders working with professionalism and integrity from initial enquiry to completion, providing services of the highest calibre.

Role Purpose

• Produce accurate, competitive cost estimates and tender packages for basement construction projects and property developments from feasibility through to final tender submission.

Key Responsibilities

• Take off quantities and price basement schemes, including underpinning, piling, retaining walls, waterproofing/tanking and dewatering
• Analyse drawings, specifications and ground investigation reports to identify cost-significant risks
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for specialist basement packages
• Prepare cost plans, tender submissions and value engineering options
• Liaise with designers, structural engineers and clients on buildability and cost
• Assess risk items specific to basements, including groundwater, party wall implications, temporary works and contaminated ground

Essential Experience

• Proven estimating background in residential high-end properties, ideally with involvement on basement/substructure work.-
• Knowledge of temporary works principles.
• Familiarity with NEC/JCT contract forms.
