Transactions Tax Associate Director

Transactions Tax Associate Director
role at
Grant Thornton UK
Our Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) Tax team is structured to provide the full spectrum of tax services to private equity, across funds, deals and portfolio companies on a wide scope of transactional work domestically and internationally.
We are leading advisers to mid-market private equity firms and large acquisitive corporates with deal values from a few million to over a billion. We support our clients throughout the entire deal lifecycle—from the initial proposal stage and assistance with offer terms, due diligence and advice on acquisition structure through to completion and post-deal advice.
We work with businesses across a wide range of sectors—from technology and gaming to care homes, art galleries, travel and retail. This is a fast-moving and exciting environment. It is technically led but with a keen eye on service, so this role will involve technical tax application, extensive client interaction and strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
TAS Tax is a small, tight-knit team that has experienced exceptional growth year on year. We have a strong pipeline and, as part of a growing team, you will have significant opportunities to take on responsibility and develop as the team grows.
We are looking for bright and enthusiastic individuals who are ready to step up into an Associate Director role and pursue a career in MandA tax.
We’re happy to discuss flexible working and consider reduced hours and job shares. While hours in a project-based environment can be varied and sometimes intense, we’ll support you to balance work, study and life.
A look into the roleAs Associate Director in the TAS Tax team, you will provide tax structuring advice and undertake tax due diligence on buy-side and sell-side transactions for private equity and corporate clients. You may also work on public company transactions, primarily on AIM and the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange.

Lead discussions with clients and legal advisers, present findings, and manage relationships with the target’s management team.
Lead work with the FDD and SPA Advisory teams to ensure outputs align.
Lead due diligence meetings, oversee analysis, and review reports for accuracy ahead of final review by the partner/director.
Prepare and review structuring reports based on proposed acquisition structure, considering key tax implications in line with transaction requirements.
Involve in all other aspects of the transaction, including reviewing forecast models, funds flows and legal documentation with the support of the team.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive opportunities across TAS, Corporate Finance and GT’s international member firms.
Work closely with external contacts in private equity funds, corporate clients, law firms and intermediaries to drive business development.
Contribute to business development: researching and preparing proposals and taking part in presentations to prospective clients.
Manage project budgets, ensuring invoices are raised promptly, fees collected, and debtors minimized.
Demonstrate ability to produce well-supported technical research using legislation and guidance from tax authorities and firm resources.
Provide ongoing training and development for the team.
