We are currently seeking an enthusiastic band 6 Paediatric nurse or experienced band 5 nurse with significant experience working within an acute paediatric setting to join our dynamic workforce. Our Ocean Day Unit is a 5 bedded unit which provides treatment and care to patients from multiple specialities, including Haematological, Endocrine, Allergy, Oncology, Rheumatology, and many more. Children attend the unit for procedures, treatments, and diagnostic scans.COPD runs in conjunction with Ocean Day Unit. It caters for all disciplines within the paediatric service and offers opportunities to work alongside teams providing a truly multi-disciplinary approach to health care, including nurse-led clinics.Ocean Day Unit has close relationships with PAU a 15 bedded paediatric assessment unit, Paediatric AandE department which provides family-centred care for babies and children from a diverse local community presenting with minor and major illnesses and Rainbow ward which is an acute general paediatric ward comprising of 18 beds it takes a variety of admissions ranging from surgical, orthopaedic, oncology, haematology and various other conditions for children and young people aged 0-16 years old, up to 18 years for some specialties.About us

In addition to a full range of cancer diagnosis and treatment services, the Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre is based on-site and provides services to support cancer patients'' wellbeing.We also provide community services and have a dedicated 0-19 service for children and young people in Enfield so that they can get the best possible start in life. This includes health visitors and school nurses who are delivering the national Healthy Child Programme, which provides a structured framework for the delivery of key interventions to support the health and wellbeing of children and families from 0 to 5 and school aged children from 5-19. Education and Qualifications

Degree in Nursing or equivalent experienceRSCN/RN child with current NMCRegistration or RN adult with significant paediatric experienceTeaching/Assessing/mentoring or equivalent qualificationEPALS/APLSCVAD compliantEvidence of having attained a degree in field of nursing or working towards attaining oneSkills and Abilities

Cannulation/phlebotomy skills - or willingness to undertaking training.Central Venous Access Device competencies or willingness to achieve competenciesAbility to plan and care for a group of patients.Good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work well within a teamCommitted to family centred careAble to make effective decisions autonomously and in partnership with children, families and the multidisciplinary team.Ability to teach, supervise and support carers, children, colleagues and studentsHighly effective communication skillsAbility to manage own workload Ability to reflect on and develop own practice and that of team members.Experience

Significant acute paediatric experience at Band 5Broad experience of clinical paediatric nursing practice within a hospital environmentExperience of having worked with acute/chronically ill childrenExperience of taking chargeExperience of working with families under stressExperience of supervising junior staff and peersExperience of managing a ward / teamExperience of working within an acute and / or community paediatric team.Demonstrate knowledge of the application of evidence based practice.Knowledge of the current issues and trends in paediatrics and the Health Service.Understanding of auditWorking knowledge of child protection proceduresPersonal Qualities
