SEN Teaching Assistant (KS1 1:1 Support for Child with Autism) Location: Nechells, Birmingham Contract: Temporary, Full-Time Working hours: 8.30am-4pmStart Date: September 2025End Date: July 2026Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceAgency: TeacherActiveAbout the Role: TeacherActive is looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in KS1 with autism at a warm and supportive primary school in Nechells, Birmigham. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, nurturing, and passionate about helping young children with additional needs thrive in a mainstream school setting.This full-time position is to cover maternity leave and will run from September 2025 to July 2026, with potential for extension depending on school requirements.Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored 1:1 support for a child in Reception with autism, helping them access learning and engage in daily classroom activities. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual education plans (IEPs). Use a range of strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation. Support transitions and routines throughout the school day. Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the child and their family. Monitor and report on progress and development to relevant staff.
