I am currently representing Islington Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate PAYE which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for an Civil Contingency Officer this role will be based at: Hybrid Working, 222 Upper Street, London, Islington, N1 1XR

The right candidate will:

To support the delivery of the Council''s statutory responsibilities for emergency planning, civil protection and organisational resilience, ensuring the Council is prepared to respond effectively to major incidents, emergencies and unforeseen events.

• Support the Council in fulfilling its statutory duties as a Category 1 Responder under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
• Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of corporate and divisional emergency plans and business continuity arrangements.
• Participate in the Council''s 24/7 corporate emergency response arrangements, undertaking duties within the crisis response on-call rota.
• Support the mobilisation and coordination of the Corporate Emergency Response Team, comprising over 100 trained personnel.
• Work collaboratively with emergency services, neighbouring local authorities, government agencies and other relevant partners.
• Participate in multi-agency meetings, planning groups and resilience forums.
• Support the delivery of emergency planning training, awareness sessions and briefings for managers and Council employees.
• Undertake and support risk assessments relating to emergency planning, civil protection, public safety and organisational resilience.

We require the following:

• Experience delivering emergency planning, civil protection or business continuity functions.
• Experience supporting or coordinating emergency responses, with the ability to deputise for the Senior Civil Contingencies Officer when required.
• Experience participating in projects, emergency preparedness activities and multi-agency exercises.
• Knowledge and practical experience of emergency preparedness, multi-agency crisis response protocols, regional emergency plans and recovery arrangements.
