The RoleAt Ravensbourne we are looking for a skilled and proactive Building Maintenance Engineer to support our Estates and Facilities team (Technical Services). Reporting to the Assistant Technical Services Manager. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our Mechanical and Electrical assets.
From preventive maintenance to urgent repairs, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care of our building plant, machinery, fixtures, fittings, and overall building fabric—keeping everything in top working order.

What You’ll Do
Executing Planned and Reactive Maintenance: Performing scheduled preventive maintenance and responding swiftly to reactive tasks to ensure all site assets remain fully operational.
Maintaining Building Systems: Ensuring all plant, equipment, and systems are serviced regularly to meet—and exceed—performance standards and service level agreements.
Responding to System Alerts: Monitoring Building Management System alarms and carrying out emergency repairs when required to minimise downtime.
Scoping and Estimating Works: Identifying repair needs and project opportunities, providing accurate estimates in line with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
Managing Permit to Work Systems: Issuing permits and maintaining strict control procedures to ensure safe and compliant work environments.
Stocking Essential Spares: Ensuring critical spare parts are readily available for the maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
Documenting Maintenance Activities: Keeping detailed records of all tasks—whether on paper or digitally—to support transparency and compliance.
Promoting Safe Working Practices: Preparing and following Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all activities to uphold health and safety standards.
Overseeing Contractors: Supervising engineering subcontractors to ensure they meet contractual obligations and adhere to site protocols.
About You
You bring proven expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, with a strong track record of diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs across large commercial properties.
Your technical know-how ensures that building infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
Ideally, you’ve worked in environments where direct interaction with building managers and teams is part of the day-to-day.
Requirements and Qualifications
Proven experience in maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in large facilities.
