Senior Scientist - Analytical Testing

At British Gypsum, we''re looking for a Senior Scientist to join our Analytical Team, helping to deliver high-quality analysis, innovation and technical expertise across our global business.

This role sits within our R&D team and offers the opportunity to become a specialist in analytical testing for gypsum-based products. Working with samples from across Saint-Gobain''s global businesses, you''ll combine hands-on laboratory analysis with method development and technical problem-solving, helping internal customers make informed decisions and drive product innovation. You''ll be part of a highly skilled team recognised as a centre of excellence for gypsum analysis across the wider Saint-Gobain Group

This role is full-time and based on-site at our East Leake Innovation Centre. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

What we''re looking for

• Degree qualified in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related scientific discipline, with relevant industrial experience, or a PhD in a related field.
• Industrial hands-on experience using analytical instrumentation such as GC-MS, HPLC, TGA and/or DSC.
• Experience developing, optimising or validating analytical methods within an industrial laboratory environment.
• Strong data interpretation, report writing and problem-solving skills.
• Able to communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you''ll be doing

• Conduct analytical testing on gypsum board and related material samples using a range of advanced laboratory techniques.
• Develop and implement new analytical methods from concept through to routine use, supporting product development and technical projects.
• Generate, interpret and communicate analytical data through technical reports and presentations for internal customers.
• Support R&D and innovation projects by providing high-quality scientific insight and recommendations.
• Collaborate with colleagues, research centres and laboratories across Saint-Gobain''s global network to share expertise and best practice.
