Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear decommissioning projects. The role will involve delivering mechanical engineering solutions across a variety of project phases, with a strong emphasis on design, approvals, and technical documentation. You will play a key role in developing and reviewing designs for special purpose machinery, fabrication, and wider mechanical engineering systems.Key Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to the development of mechanical design solutions in line with project requirements and industry standards.Prepare, check, and approve technical drawings, calculations, and supporting documentation.Provide engineering input throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning and handover.Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure design integration and compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.Support the production and review of design justifications, technical reports, and approval submissions.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.Essential Experience and Qualifications

Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Proven experience in the nuclear sector, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulations.Demonstrable background in mechanical design, fabrication, and/or special purpose machinery.Strong ability to produce and review high-quality technical documentation.Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent professional recognition.Previous experience in decommissioning projects.Evidence of success in a similar senior engineering role.Personal Attributes
