We are seeking a reliable and practical Caretaker / Groundskeeper to support the day-to-day maintenance, security, and presentation of a busy school site. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining safe, clean, and well-kept environments.The RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the school premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard, supporting a safe learning environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.Key duties include:Carrying out daily site checks and reporting any hazards or defectsUndertaking basic maintenance and minor repairs across the siteMaintaining outdoor areas, including litter picking, general grounds upkeep, and seasonal tasksOpening and securing buildings, including unlocking/locking and alarm proceduresSetting up and clearing spaces for school activities, events, or meetingsMonitoring site security and access, following safeguarding procedures at all timesLiaising with contractors and reporting larger maintenance issues as requiredThe Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who:Has previous experience in a caretaking, groundskeeping, or facilities-based role (school experience desirable but not essential)Is practical, proactive, and able to work independentlyHas a strong understanding of health and safety and site securityIs physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasksIs reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hoursCommunicates clearly with staff, visitors, and external co
