Systems and Controls Engineer

£38,000–£49,000 DOE | Birmingham | 6-month contract

Join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering automation, test and electro-hydraulic solutions from concept to commissioning.

We’re seeking a hands-on engineer to develop, test and commission LabVIEW, PLC and electro-hydraulic control systems in a manufacturing and product-development environment.

• Design, program and commission LabVIEW, PLC, embedded and machine-control solutions.
• Develop electro-hydraulic systems and specify sensors, valves, controllers, PLCs and HMIs.
• Create schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, test plans and technical documentation.
• Test systems, diagnose faults, analyse data and implement corrective actions.
• Support prototypes, production and continuous improvements in performance, reliability and manufacturability.

• Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent in controls, electrical/electronic engineering, mechatronics or automation.
• Controls, automation or systems-engineering experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• Experience with PLC, embedded or machine-control systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic or electro-hydraulic systems and control hardware.
• Strong schematic-reading, fault-finding, problem-solving and communication skills.

LabVIEW, HMI, embedded C/C++, hydraulic simulation, servo controls, instrumentation or heavy-engineering experience would be advantageous.
