Senior Financial Accountant

A leading organisation is seeking a technically strong, qualified accountant to join in a newly created specialist position. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to take ownership of complex accounting matters and become the go-to expert across multiple areas of financial reporting and compliance.

The Opportunity
Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will provide technical accounting expertise across a diverse range of areas including IFRS, VAT, fixed assets, lease accounting and treasury. You will play a key role in maintaining robust financial controls, supporting statutory reporting, driving accounting best practice and delivering finance transformation initiatives.
This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence accounting policy, governance and process improvements across a large and complex business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the subject matter expert for technical accounting matters.
• Provide guidance on complex accounting transactions and treatments.
• Support statutory reporting, audits and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, VAT legislation and internal policies.
• Lead assessment and implementation of accounting standard changes.
• Review balance sheet integrity and strengthen financial controls.
• Support finance transformation and systems projects.
• Coach and develop technical capability across finance teams.-

About You

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge including IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Significant VAT experience, including preparation and review of VAT returns.
• Experience of preparing technical accounting papers and recommendations.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP systems experience.
• Background within a large, complex organisation.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
