Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor-ensure the contractual and commercial delivery of the portfolio of contracts across the business, working with and supporting internal contract managers to abide to contractual obligations, ensure risks and opportunities are managed effectively and ensure profitability for individual contracts.
Forecasting cashflow and commercial returns, the Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor will report directly to the Directors.-
Key Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Ensure that contracts are meticulously adhered to throughout the duration of each project. This involves closely monitoring project progress against any client contractual obligations and specifications, working closely with our Contracts team.
- Actively contribute to the preparation and compilation of internal reports essential for project management and decision-making processes.
- Support in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for passive fire protection projects, in accordance with project specifications and client requirements and working with our Estimating team when requested.
- Assist with the review of tender documents and client Contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and ensuring terms are acceptable to the business.
- Management and submission of interim valuations, progress reports, and final accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Maintain comprehensive and live records of project costs, variations, and other financial documentation, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Manage and oversee Quantity Surveyors and IT Manager, having an oversight of all projects.
- Attend sites and client meetings as necessary to facilitate and enhance client relations to the benefit of the company.
- Undertake any other duties or tasks as assigned by the Senior Management to support the successful delivery of projects and contribute to the overall success of the company
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong work ethic.
- Proven ability to manage both people and assets.
- Extensive construction experience essential, experience in the passive fire protection industry preferred although not essential.
- Forward thinking, progressive, dynamic leader who has excellent interpersonal and management skills.
- Ability to read and understand construction specifications and drawings.
- Strong knowledge of standard estimating practices.
- Comfortable and convincing when meeting with clients.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem solving skills.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum 5 Years experience in Quantity Surveying
- Extensive experience of construction contracts.
- Strong knowledge of NEC suite of contracts.
- Experience in developing and implementing wider commercial strategies to drive work winning, business unit growth and profitability.
- Proven track record of successfully working internally with an operations team and externally with owners, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
