A specialist school in Trowbridge, Wiltshire is looking for a dedicated Emotional and Mental Health Support Worker to join their supportive team. You will work directly with children aged 5-16 who may experience Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties and other additional needs.

As an Emotional and Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide individualised 1:1 and small-group support, working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and specialist professionals to create a calm, consistent and nurturing environment. • Providing 1:1 and small-group emotional wellbeing support to children.
• Building consistent, trusting and positive relationships with children.
• Helping children identify, communicate and understand their emotions.
• Supporting children to develop healthy coping mechanisms and emotional regulation strategies.
• Providing reassurance and guidance during periods of anxiety, distress or emotional dysregulation.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children make constructive choices.
• Supporting children to develop confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
• Helping children re-engage with learning following periods of emotional difficulty.
• Supporting social interaction and positive relationships with peers.
• Identifying potential emotional triggers and sharing relevant observations with the wider support team.
• Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, SEN professionals and other specialists to provide consistent support.
