Teaching Assistant - KS1 SEN Support

Location: Lambeth, South London

Contract: Full-time, long-term
Pay: -100120 per day, depending on experience

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its Key Stage 1 team from 2nd November.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and supportive individual who enjoys working with younger pupils and is passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) access learning, build confidence and develop independence.

Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO, you will provide targeted support to pupils across KS1, helping them engage with lessons and make progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group SEN support in Key Stage 1
• Helping pupils access the curriculum through adapted activities and resources
• Supporting early literacy, phonics and numeracy
• Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation and classroom engagement
• Supporting pupils with communication, social and developmental needs
• Helping children develop confidence and independence
• Following individual learning plans and agreed support strategies
• Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to maintain consistent support
• Contributing to a calm, inclusive and positive classroom environment

The school is looking for a patient, proactive and reliable KS1 Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships and adapt their approach to meet individual needs.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant
• Experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school
• An understanding of the needs of pupils in KS1
• Confidence supporting learning and promoting positive behaviour
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A nurturing approach and genuine commitment to inclusion

Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs or SEMH would be particularly beneficial.
