If you''re good at fixing plant, diagnosing faults and getting machinery back up and running, but you''re fed up with being treated like just another number, this could be worth a look.

We''re working with an established plant hire business looking for an experienced Plant Fitter / Plant Engineer to take ownership of its workshop and customer repairs.

You''ll be working directly with the company directors, with plenty of variety and genuine scope to influence how the engineering side of the business develops.

What will you be working on?

A good mix of:

• Excavators / diggers
• Crushers
• Telehandlers
• Small plant and tools
• Construction machinery
• Company transport fleet

What''s on offer?

• -1819.50 per hour basic
• -25 per hour for out-of-hours work
• Monday-Friday, 07:00-17:00
• Saturday rota, 08:30-12:00
• Company van
• Fuel card
• Mobile phone
• Tool allowance
• Overtime & callouts paid separately
• Informal company performance bonus
• There is flexibility on the package for the right person.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• PDI checks and servicing of returned hire machinery
• Diagnosing and repairing breakdowns
• Customer repairs
• Workshop repairs and maintenance
• Managing workshop workflow
• Ordering parts
• Repairs to the transport fleet
• Attending customer sites for machinery handovers
• Site-based repairs and servicing
• Supporting the wider business where required

The opportunity

The company wants to expand the mechanical services it provides to customers, particularly on-site servicing and repairs.

Once you''ve settled in, you''ll have the opportunity to help develop that side of the business, including helping shape the workshop, mobile operation, staffing and services offered.

So if you''ve got ideas about how things could be done better, you''ll actually have the opportunity to put them forward.

What we''re looking for

We''re interested in experienced engineers from backgrounds such as:

Plant | Heavy Plant | Agricultural | Construction | Forklift | HGV | Mechanical Engineering

You don''t necessarily need to have worked on every type of machine listed above.

We''re looking for someone who is:

• Mechanically strong
• Confident fault finding
• Comfortable working independently
• Reliable and proactive
• Customer focused
• Able to take ownership when something needs doing
