My Client Malvern Family Practice require a part-time Phlebotomist to provide a high quality venipuncture and blood sampling service for their patients. This post is temporary with the view to becoming permanent. DUTES and RESPONSIBILITIES To provide a full and comprehensive venepuncture and sampling service with due regard to procedures governing safe clinical practice, confidentiality, cross infection and Health and Safety and to show respect for the dignity and comfort of the patients at all times. To provide an efficient and accurate sampling service on all patients To be individually responsible for carrying our procedures for the labelling and recording of specimens ensuring accuracy and safe practice according to established protocols. To have full working knowledge of blood collection tubes, forms and systems. To have a thorough knowledge of the appropriate range of tests for each container and to ensure that appropriate blood volumes are collected. To carry out additional procedures involving special tests according to standard operating procedures and the laboratory manual protocols. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team liaising with medical, nursing, administration and laboratory staff. To communicate effectively with patients, parents and relatives To understand and implement when required blood spill protocol and management of same. Cleaning and maintenance of clinical equipment Reporting faults in line with practice protocol. Correct disposal and ..... full job details .....
