Our client is seeking a Planning Officer to support the delivery of town planning services on contract basis. The role offers hybrid working, with compulsory office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Greater London.

• Assessing and processing planning applications in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures
• Providing professional town planning advice to applicants, colleagues and stakeholders
• Preparing clear planning reports, recommendations and written correspondence
• Reviewing planning proposals and assessing their impact on local communities and the built environment
• Working collaboratively with internal departments, external consultees and members of the public
• Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring planning applications progress within required timescales
• Supporting the delivery of an effective and responsive planning service

• Experience in town planning, development management or a related local authority planning environment
• Good understanding of UK planning legislation, policy and procedures
• Ability to assess planning applications and prepare well-reasoned recommendations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to manage competing workloads and deadlines
• Confident working with applicants, professional advisers, consultees and members of the public
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and using standard office and planning systems
• Eligibility to work in the UK and a valid driving licence
